The New Website - A Year In The Making Twelve months....as I write this, it has been twelve months that MLW (My Lovely Wife) and I have lived here in Galston. For those of you who know us, you've heard stories of termites, floods, power loss, more floods, possums and other things that go bump in the night that we still can't identify. You'll also know that we've fallen in love with the area and have been overwelmed with the amount of time a block of land can take.
You'll also know that we've been working very hard on this, the new look Galston Festival Website. It is the first of a series of projects undertaken by our software company, Adelphi Software, and, as such, has been a complete labour of love. I began work on this site framework while on a gig with the Borderers (Jim and Alex are two of my all time favourite on stage nutters) last April in Griffith. I worked on this site in front of our fireplace during the middle part of May 2007, when it began to get really cold. I worked on this site over the Queen's Birthday long weekend, while my battery power lasted...you see, that weekend was the first of a number of power failures that we've now come to expect. I'm still working on the site framework, even now....new features are set to come online in the next few months which will change the way we work with the festival forever. This new site has a built in Customer Relationship module, which will allow our marketing department to categorise and target our audience. We'll shortly have the ability to send out newsletters to our fans, our volunteers, our friends and our artists. We'll also be packaging and selling tickets on line. For the first time, the Galston Country Music Festival has a voice on line.... So this is the first story....a little website with a lot of elbow grease. Kind of like the festival....a little festival with a lot of community spirit.
