the New South Wales Awards for Independent Country Music Artists
(Please note - You may enter if you have a distribution deal, but not if you have a distribution/marketing deal)
'Independent' means that you are totalled self-funded - only artists who receive no funding may enter.
Donna Boyd has taken over as Director of the Coopers Golden Saddle Awards, and has announced some major changes to the awards:
Says Donna: “I was honoured to be asked to take over the role as Director of the Coopers Golden Saddles. I'm always up for a new challenge, and I have tried to put my own stamp on the awards. As today's Indie artists are responsible for their own marketing and advertising as well as their music in this very competitive market, I felt it was time to include those elements in the awards criteria.
I am very excited to announce the following changes have been made to bring the Awards more in line with today's Independent Country Music Artists.”
The changes are as follows:
The awards are now open for entry by the artists themselves.
You must be a resident of New South Wales to enter.
3 Finalists will be announced on July 1st 2008, and they will perform at The Golden Saddle Awards on Saturday 13th September 2008 at The Galston Club, where 3 prizes will be awarded on the night.
There are now 3 awards:
1. The 2008 Coopers Golden Saddle Award (the overall winner) – judged by a panel of 5 judges, on a combination of recorded material & marketing/promotional material.
2. The 2008 Tomkins Guitars Golden Saddle Performance Award – judged by a panel of judges present at The Galston Club for the Awards night.
3. The 2008 Coopers Golden Saddle People's Choice Award – calculated on a combination of online voting through the Galston Country Music Festival website + audience votes on Saturday 13th September 2008 at the Awards night at The Galston Club.The 3 Finalists will also perform on Sunday 14th September at the Galston Country Music Festival.
Prizes will be announced over the coming weeks, and they include cash, gigs and more!
